Pop Art was the art of popular culture. It was the visual art movement that characterized a sense of optimism during the post-war consumer boom of the 1950's and 1960's. Pop Art was brash, young and fun and hostile to the artistic establishment. It included different styles of painting and sculpture from various countries, but what they all had in common was an interest in mass-media, mass-production, and mass-culture. Our Pop Art tour will be presented with the founder of Pop Art culture in Georgia famous Georgian artists Davit Kakabadze, Avto Varazy and other contemporary Georgian artists.
The tour starts from Tbilisi National Gallery (7, Rustaveli Ave., Tbilisi). We will wait for you at 10 0'clock at your hotel’s entrance and drive you to the Museum. In the Museum, you will be able to have a look at the most famous pictures of Kakabadze.
The tour will be accompanied by a local guide.
The next stop is the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts. There is a rich collection of Pop Art works created by contemporary Georgian painters.
Then we will have a tasty Georgian lunch in old Tbilisi area.
After lunch, we will visit Karvasla Tbilisi History Museum, which is located at 8 Sioni Street, between Sioni church and touristic hot spot Shardeni Street. In the beginning, this building was a store for various goods and a barrelhouse. Today it is an active tourist spot, where one can explore Georgian history in the museum, exhibition, and trade.
Then we arrange the most important part of our trip – art workshop, which implies painting sessions according to Georgian artists art with a lesson in the main elements of composition and pop-art technique. Art workshop duration will be approximately three hours.
